Spendy weekend

November 17th, 2014 at 06:29 pm

I had a very spendy weekend. I spent more yesterday alone than I did all of the previous week.

Winter is here and I am not a winter girl. I have decided to take a new approach this year and just embrace the cold. I am starting to upgrade my winter clothes so I won't be so miserable. I started with a jacket yesterday. I bought a Northface one for $160-more than I have ever spend on a single article of clothing in my life. However, it is keeping me toasty and will last for years to come so I see it as a good investment.

I think we may finally start cracking down on how many times a week we eat out. I think 1-2 is perfectly reasonable given our income and lifestyle. We eat out WAY more than that. But I think my partner and I are on the same page now and are working together better to plan meals. Well..prepping meals. We plan them but then when we get home from work we're both exhausted and it's just easier to go out for dinner.

The right winter gear makes all the difference. Enjoy the new jacket!

Northface winter jackets and their internal fleece are investment pieces in warmth and comfort. I suggest seeking quality gloves with cashmere lining and a wardrobe of headgear with potential to cover your ears since so much heat is lost from your head. Finally, style is great but UGG boots actually keep your feet warm. We all have down filled 'booties' to wear at home. They scrunch into a zip bag to take visiting friends.

If you're fussed about the cost differential of Northface, sooth your conscious by forgoing dessert in anticipation of all the rich calories of the upcoming holiday season. Give up two meals out and punish yourself by declining wine or beverage you prefer.

Next up on the list is shoes that keep the water (and cold) out. I definitely have sticker shock about the coat but I have been so happy. I've never been in this good a financial position before, either, so it's taking some getting used to with spending money on myself.
